Multi-age Mentoring, Ages 3-6

At Sunny Hollow, we offer an authentic Montessori education from 16 months through 8th grade.

Maria Montessori called her preschool and kindergarten program “Casa” because she wanted children to consider their classroom a home. They treat the room with both freedom and care.

Casa Communities at Sunny Hollow Montessori are multi-age, so that the oldest children become the models and inspiration for the youngest, while consolidating their own knowledge, concepts, self-confidence and sense of responsibility.

We have three Casa classrooms, each with around 20 children, offering about a 1:7 guide to child ratio.

Your child will stay in the same classroom throughout their Casa experience.

This consistent, connected experience creates a sense of trust, belonging, and courage. In a community where they are deeply known, students feel safe to try, make mistakes, explore, and grow.

We are located in the Groveland/Highland neighborhood off of Mississippi Boulevard, just 6 miles from the Capitol.

Preschool in Minneapolis/St. Paul

Our preschool group includes children from 2.5 years to 4.

Our pre-k group ranges from 4-5 years old.

Kids are wildly capable, and the Montessori approach encourages children to do things for themselves. Sunny Hollow students develop their natural love of learning through hands-on exploration and purposeful work.

Our classrooms are designed to foster students’ natural curiosity, their desire to “do it myself,” and their independence.

Casa contains child-sized furniture and materials within reach of the youngest students. Materials and activities value each child’s pace and style of learning. The whole child approach engages their hands, bodies, emotions, passions and interests. We minimize technology to ensure a kinesthetic style of learning.

Guided by dedicated teachers who truly know each child, students grow into capable, compassionate learners who care for themselves, others, and the world around them.

Casa Program Schedule

Half Day Program 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Full Day Program 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Extended care begins at 7:30 a.m. with afternoon hours extended to 5:30 p.m. This program is five days a week, Monday through Friday, excluding school holidays.
