Maddy Heide is the Music Guide at Sunny Hollow. Originally from Wisconsin, she completed her BA in Environmental Studies at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon. She soon discovered her love of working with young people as a teacher at a play-based preschool in Portland, Oregon. She joined SHM as a Casa Assistant and learned about Montessori by taking the 3-5 assistants course at the Montessori Center of Minnesota. Maddy has loved weaving her passion for music into the classroom at Sunny Hollow and is excited to expand upon this in her role as the Music Guide. Maddy believes that every child possesses the ability to be expressive through music, and she can’t wait to work with each child at Sunny Hollow and make music together. Outside of teaching, Maddy loves writing songs, playing with her band called Canary Room, seeing live music, going on walks with her friends, identifying plants and birds, playing with her orange cat named Clementine, and talking on the phone with her long-distance friends and family.
