Preparation for High School and Life
Middle school students are challenged academically, find their voices and explore their roles in community. At Sunny Hollow Montessori, they find belonging and a strong sense of themselves and how they fit in the world.
Students engage in an interdisciplinary curriculum that seeks to solve meaningful problems while developing logical reasoning, research skills, and higher order thinking.

Students build their sense of community and values-based living through:

In the fall, middle school students travel to Itasca State Park in Park Rapids, Minnesota, for an outdoor adventure program in which they learn camping and cooking skills as well as community building. In the spring, students participate in a trip to New Orleans or other venues in which they learn skills such as travel planning, maintaining order and safety and self-care skills.
Middle School Program Schedule
Our Middle School program is one community with several different classroom spaces. All classes are mixed ages (grades 7 and 8). The school day is 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. Before and after care is available from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm.
The student syllabus is designed for redo/review/revise methods to reach understanding, preparing students for the rigors of high school and college prep. But the curriculum remains flexible to engage student interest and harness their strengths.
Students can also sign up for enrichment classes and extended day programs that range from athletic endeavors and clubs to theater, art and language.
